Attendance at Kuraby State School is closely monitored by Administration Staff and Teachers. Parents are asked to contact the school using the numbers below, BEFORE 9AM, if a student is going to be absent from school. Parents will be contacted if multiple UNEXPLAINED absences are recorded.
Responsibilities
Parents/Carers :
• Ensure that their child attends school on every school day
• Provide a satisfactory explanation for all absences, lateness or early departure. Leaving early for the sake of convenience is highly discouraged. Students are learning from 8.50am - 3pm inclusive.
• Contact the school prior to any planned absence. Where this is not possible,
parents must provide the reason for any absences prior to 9.00 a.m. on the day of
absence. This may take the form of a medical certificate or a satisfactory
explanation for the absence.
• Contact the Administration Office if student absence is to be for an extended
period of time (e.g. family reasons or illness).
• Planned absences of 10 days or more will require the completion of an Exemption
Form and approval from the Principal.
• Contact the Principal if a student is refusing to attend school. Initiate or attend
meetings to seek support and discuss their child’s attendance or participation in
their educational program.
• Provide a written note (signed and dated) from parents/carers explaining a future
planned absence.
• Advise the school of any change of address or phone numbers to ensure school
records are accurate. Up to date data is essential in an emergency.
