The Australian Curriculum is three-dimensional; it includes eight learning areas, seven general capabilities, and three cross-curriculum priorities. Together, the three dimensions set out essential knowledge, understanding and skills that enable all young Australians to learn, contribute and shape their world now and in the future.
At Kuraby State School we provide (teach, assess and report on) all eight learning areas of the Prep to Year 10 Australian Curriculum to all students:
- English
- Mathematics
- Science
- Humanities and Social Sciences
- Health and Physical Education
- The Arts (Music, Dance, Drama, Media Arts and Visual Arts)
- Technologies (Design and Digital)
- Languages Years 4-6 (Japanese)
The year level curriculum is organised into contextualised units of learning allocated to or across terms throughout the year. Each term parents are provided with a learning and assessment overview of the curriculum that the students are learning for that term.
In 2024, we began the transition to Australian Curriculum v9.0 for English. Mathematics will follow in 2025.
